Connecting
with the
Kogi tribe

A journey of insight

In May 2023, I had the profound privilege of immersing myself in the world of the Kogi community, nestled in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta in northern Colombia. This experience was not just a visit; it was a journey into the heart of a culture deeply entwined with the wellbeing of our planet. This profound experience morphed into exploring ways that we could support the Kogi tribe.

Learning from the elders

Our time with the Kogi tribe opened doors to understanding their rich culture, spiritual mission, and their unshakeable commitment to the planet’s wellness.

We were honoured with access to ‘Pueblito’, their sacred archeological site, usually closed to outsiders. Conversations with the tribe’s elders unveiled the critical role these communities play in maintaining harmony with nature.

The Kogi’s wisdom: a reflection on our world

The Kogi people, with their intrinsic understanding of the interconnectedness between humanity and nature, imparted ancestral wisdom that is vital for the conservation and restoration of the Earth. For me, this encounter was more than just a visit; it was a poignant mirror reflecting our inner conflicts and disconnections. The Kogi – ‘The Elder Brother’ — offers a stark message: in our progress, we have drifted from love and nature, the creator ‘The Great Mother’, a path that threatens our collective existence.

A pledge to support and preserve

Inspired by our transformative experience, our group made a commitment to support the Kogi tribe in reclaiming and purchasing a specific piece of land adjoining their homeland. This initiative, rooted in principle and passion, aims to facilitate the purchase once all necessary processes are in place.

The encounter also sparked a broader vision to support indigenous tribes, especially the Kogi, in their quest to safeguard sacred lands. Our objective is to raise awareness, generate funds, and collaborate with established support structures. This marks the beginning of a new movement, building upon the invaluable gift and insights received from the Kogi.
